Ingredients Adzuki beans Adzuki beans are very high in fibre and are an excellent source of foliate, potassium, phosphorous, magnesium, iron, and other minerals. They are also a good source of anti-oxidants. Agave A great source of calcium, iron and magnesium. Agave is a slow release sugar that helps to sweeten the powder. Alfalfa seeds Alfalfa seeds are a good source of protein, vitamin A, niacin and calcium, dietary fibre, vitamin C, vitamin K, thiamine, riboflavin, foliate, pantothenic acid, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, zinc, copper and manganese. Anthocyanin (from grape skin) Anthocyanin is a powerful and protective anti-oxidant that absorbs age inducing free radicals. Barley Grass Barley grass is said to have 30 times more vitamin B1 and 11 times the amount of calcium than there is in cow’s milk, 6.5 times as much carotene and nearly 5 times the iron content of spinach. Close to seven times the vitamin C in oranges, four times the vitamin B1 in whole wheat flour, and 80 micrograms of vitamin B12 per 100 grams of dried barley plant juice. Barley grass has one of the highest natural levels of enzyme SOD (superoxide dismutase), which is a powerful antioxidant that protects the cells against toxic free radicals, thought to be a primary culprit in aging. Beetroot Beetroot contains beta Cynin, a type of anthocynin which gives the vegetable its red/purple colour. It contains very potent antioxidants that neutralise a broad range of free radicals. Broccoli sprouts Broccoli sprouts are the richest food source of glucosinolates – sulphur containing chemicals that breakdown after consumption to form biologically active compounds such as indoles, nitrides, thiocyanates and sulphoraphane. These compounds stimulate enzymes in the body that detoxify carcinogens before they damage cells. Broccoli sprouts contain 20-50 times more sulphoraphane than that found in mature broccoli. It is also high in beta-carotene, vitamin C, calcium, folic acid and selenium. Buckwheat Buckwheat is super rich in dietary fibre, vitamin B, and minerals such as zinc, manganese, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium and copper. Burdock Burdock has been used for centuries as a specific herb for chronic skin disorders. It helps the body to eliminate wastes and toxins. Root is eaten in Japan and leaves can be eaten as a salad green. Chia Chia is high in omega-3, calcium, protein, fibre, iron, anti-oxidants, and vitamin B. Chickpeas Chickpeas are rich in dietary fibre, protein (including high levels of tryptophan). This ingredient also contains iron, trace minerals such as manganese, and trace elements of molybdenum and foliate. Chlorella Contains chlorophyll an easily digested complete protein. It is rich in vitamin C, E, and Bs, Calcium, iron, beta-carotene. It is a blood cleanser and increases oxygen levels in the blood. It is well known as a detoxifier of mercury from the body. It is alkalising, anti-inflammatory, rich in anti-oxidants and immune stimulating. Cinnamon Research shows that cinnamon may regulate blood sugar, reduce inflammation and reduce LDL cholesterol. It is a powerful anti-oxidant that also contains a natural chemical called cinnamaldehyde, which studies show increases the hormone progesterone and decreases testosterone production in women, helping to balance hormones. Dandelion Root Dandelion Root is a digestive aid, liver tonic that helps to increase flow of bile. It is ideal for constipation as it regulates the bowels. It also has promising anti-cancer properties (studies are underway) and is high in vitamins A and C and many minerals including potassium. Dunaliella salina A nutrient dense micro algae rich in health promoting carotenoids, especially beta carotene (one of the richest dietary sources), chlorophyll, amino acids, vitamins (E and B12), and essential fatty acids. It also contains both omega-3 and omega-6. The nutrient boasts higher levels of chlorophyll, beta-carotene, lutein and zexanthin than spirulina and carrots. It also contains good levels of selenium and magnesium. Because of its high beta-carotene levels, it is a great source of provitamin A. Linseeds Linseeds are rich in alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), and therefore a wonderful source of omega-3 fat. Linseeds are also high in dietary fibre and minerals. Maqui berry The dark purple Maqui berry from the Patagonian region of Chile is one of the most anti-oxidant dense foods on the planet. These berries are packed with anthocyanins, a strong antioxidant, which is reflected in their high Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity (ORAC) value. An independent lab report from Brunswick Laboratories (MA) states that the ORAC value for the Maqui berry is 27,600, higher than many greens. It is also higher than what you can find in other super berries, including Acai berry pulp (16,700), cranberries (9,600) and also blueberries (6,500) (ORAC values for the other super berries are from the US Department of Agriculture, 2007). Millet Millet is rich in dietary fibre, vitamin B, foliate minerals such as zinc, manganese, magnesium, and phosphorus. Molasses Molasses is a rich source of vitamin B6, potassium, manganese and magnesium. Mung beans Mung beans are high in vitamin C, B vitamins, foliate, minerals, potassium and zinc. Parsley Parsley is very high in Vitamin C and beta carotene. It is a member of the umbelliferous vegetable family, which is known for anti-cancerous effects. Pepitas Pepitas are a rich source of carotenoids, omega-3, vitamin A, vitamin K, B vitamins, foliate, iron, and minerals such as potassium, phosphorus, zinc, magnesium, potassium, and manganese.
